Photos of local ancestors are needed in Canada

"Hi,

I am working on the genealogy of my family and am interested in any images of close relations who lived in Louisville. I’m especially interested in obtaining an image of Edith Mayfield and her husband Lee Mayfield, longtime owner and editor of the Louisville Courier.

On my mother’s side, my mother (Dorothy McConnell) and her family (father Frank Leo McConnell) lived in Louisville in the first half of the 1900s. Various other relatives lived in Weeping Water and Nehawka.

On my father’s side, Matilda and Swan/Sven Peterson lived there from the late 1800s. One of their daughters was Edith Peterson, whose second marriage (first marriage: Rochford) was to Lee Mayfield. Edith and Lee were editors and owners of the Louisville Courier and part of a much larger family of Mayfields in the area. I have a very charming letter from Edith addressed to me just after my birth in 1943 (I recently saw it for the first time!). All roads lead back to Louisville, and I’d love to have a picture of Edith. Edith’s nephew (Arthur Palmer), prominent lawyer, also lived in the area; I met Arthur in California in the 1950’s when our family vacationed in Los Angeles.

My connection on my father’s side: Edith’s Aunt (Mathilda Peterson) married Charles Barghausen in Council Bluffs, and Charles’ daughter Alice (my paternal grandfather) married my paternal grandfather Frank Henning.

I enjoyed the information on the website, and I’d be happy if you are aware of repositories of historical photos which might include my Louisville ancestors."
